News Articles / 2015 High School Graduation
« Last post by SkyWarp on June 18, 2015, 09:51:45 PM »
On Friday, May 22, 2015, ZCS held its 35th Commencement Exercise.  There were three graduates in the ZCS Class of 2015 – Thomas Robert Harnetty, II, Chase Michael Thomas Harvey, and Olivia Lenore Hooper.

Olivia was the class valedictorian and gave the following challenge in her speech:  "Although this graduating class consists of only three seniors with three very different personalities, we can still be used greatly for the Lord.  Gideon is an example of someone that God used even though he and his small army of three hundred were not favored to win the battle against the mighty Midianites.  We have a choice to make.  We must choose whether we will allow our circumstances to define us or whether we will allow God to work through us."

The graduates were challenged by Pastor Tony Garren, Pastor of Fayette Bible Church. The theme of his message was "Stand Fast in Liberty" taken from Galatians 5.  He challenged them to not allow their faith to become dead, but instead have an abundant Christian life by serving God with all their heart.  He also challenged them to share Christ with a lost world because as Christians we have been given great riches at Christ’s expense and to whom much is given, much is required.  The graduates along with some other high school students sang "Higher Ground." There was a reception following commencement for Thomas, Chase, and Olivia, their families, and guests in Room 2.

On Friday, May 30, 2014, ZCS held its 34th Commencement Exercise.  There were two graduates in the ZCS Class of 2014 - Cara Marie Brown and Brooke Leigh Lucas.  Cara was the class valedictorian and Brooke was salutatorian.  They were challenged by Mr. Izaac VanderSchel, Director of Peniel Bible Camp. The theme of his message was "Living a Legacy" taken from I Thessalonians 1:2-8.  The focus of the challenge was that both Thessalonians and graduates are uniquely positioned, applauded for accomplishment, and encouraged to press on to display even more...

  • Abiding actions - work produced by faith, labor prompted by love, and endurance inspired by hope
  • Enduring example - genuine discipleship, definitive impact

The evidence of that work of faith, labor of love, and endurance of hope is a gospel message that is clearly seen and heard through our lives. The high school quartet "God of Heaven" and the volleyball team sang "I Will Serve My Lord".  There was a reception for Cara and Brooke, their families, and guests in Room 2.
