Zanesville Christian School varsity volleyball squad played in the Buckeye Christian School Association state tournament held in Lima, Ohio on October 25-26. The fourth-seeded Warriors won their first match (2-0) against Lima Christian Academy on Friday morning. The team then lost their second match (0-2) against first-seed Wayside Christian School (Bucyrus). That moved them into a match against Milford Christian Academy on Saturday morning. The Warriors played hard against MCA but came up short (19-25 and 21-25). Top seeded Wayside and Licking County Christian Academy battled for the championship with LCCA winning the fifth set 19-17! Tournament play was led by senior Cara Brown who contributed 12 points and 3 aces. Cara powered down 23 kills and pulled up 5 digs. Senior Brooke Lucas contributed 11 points, 2 aces, 3 kills, and 13 assists. Tessa Palone was points leader with 17 points. Lana Howell Dished out 15 points, 3 aces, and 4 kills while Olivie Hooper fired off 14 points, 6 aces, 12 assists, and 2 digs. Ida Howell served 11 points and 3 aces. Cara Brown was selected for the all-tournament team; she was also named to the Ohio Christian Conference all-star team by the conference coaches. Cara Brown will play in the BCSA/OCAC all-star match on November 2nd at LCCA in Heath, Ohio.
