The Zanesville Christian School volleyball squad won third place in the Buckeye Christian School Association state tournament this past weekend in Lima.
The Warriors won their first match 2-0 against Heritage Christian then lost 2-1 to Licking County Christian, but they came back with a pair of 2-0 wins against a second team from Licking County and Milford Christian before finishing third after a 25-20, 25-22 loss to Licking County Christian. Zanesville also won the prized Sportsmanship Trophy.
Emily Weaver finished with 32 points, 11 aces, 23 assists and 48 digs to pace the Warriors, while Cara Brown added 25 points, 11 aces, 14 kills and 21 digs, Brooke Lucas 18 points, 5 aces, 22 assists and 19 digs, Paige Blackstone 21 points and 14 digs, Edith Howell 13 points and 34 digs, Grace Blackstone 11 points and 13 digs and Olivia Hooper 13 points.
Brown was also selected to the all-tournament team and will compete on the Ohio Christian Conference all-star team at 2 p.m. Saturday at Licking County Christian.
