On Friday, May 26, 2017, ZCS held its 35th Commencement Exercise. There was one graduate in the ZCS Class of 2017 – Lana Melita Howell.
Lana graduated with a 4.0 grade point average and was the class valedictorian. For the class verse, she chose Jude 24-25, “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
The graduate was challenged by Pastor Chris Brown, Pastor of Maranatha Bible Church. He spoke about Retaining Wisdom from Proverbs 3:1 and 2, “My son, forget not my law; but let thing heart keep my commandments: for length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” He challenged the graduate to remember and to “continue [thou] in the things which she [thou] hast learned.” Lana sang "Be Strong in His Grace”, a song she wrote and composed for graduation. There was a reception following commencement for Lana, her family, and guests in Room 2.
