xx Honor Society Welcomes New Inductees
January 04, 2006, 12:54:45 AM by SkyWarp

The Honor Society was excited this year to add some new members!? On December 19, they held a ceremony to induct four sophomores- Jessi Dearth, Heidi Edwards, Noah Medich, and Lydia Shaver.? Shane Todd made the opening comments, and the four other members- Justin Moore, Rachel Harnetty, Timothy Lewis, and Jenna Ball- all gave brief speeches on the American Christian Honor Society, while the main challenge was given by Mr. Shaver.

To get into Honor Society, a student must have a 3.1 GPA and must also exhibit Christ-like attitudes.? They must also pass teacher's evaluations and submit a personal evaluation.? Congratulations to them for meeting all requirements!?

Mr. and Mrs. Riggs currently head up all Honor Society activities such as the Adopt-A-Highway trash pickup, and also take the Honor Society members on many educational trips.? Last year, they went to Washington D.C. and even saw the President!? This year they will be taking a trip to Gettysburg to see the famous Civil War Battlefield.?

xx A.R.M. Yourself
October 05, 2005, 06:07:33 PM by SkyWarp
The ZCS Honor Society desires the ZCS student body (and everyone else that is willing) to A.R.M. themselves for the daily spiritual battles we all fight.

A.R.M. is a simple program designed to help establish and/or maintain a meaningful, personal devotional life. The " A" stands for Accountability. The participant finds someone who will daily ask if he or she has had his or her personal time with the Lord that day. The "R" reminds the participant to Record the Scripture references read, a summary, its impact, as well as prayer burdens. The "M" stands for Meditate." After reading and recording the text, invest at least five minutes considering the application and prayer.

If you would like to A.R.M. yourself, give your name to an Honor Society member or to Mr. or Mrs. Riggs. You will receive an A.R.M. reminder card for your accountability partner which includes the option of you being able to ask your accountability partner if HE had his time with the Lord yet that day!

(Again, this is not limited to ZCS students!)

xx 2004-2005 ACHS Inductions
October 05, 2005, 06:06:01 PM by SkyWarp
The ZCS Honor Society received six new inductees, as well as a "re-tooling" of it's basic purpose of existence and function recently.

The new inductees are Jenna Ball, Joel Edwards, Rachel Harnetty, Donald Thompson, Shane Todd, and Kyle Watts.

Prior to this year's induction of new members, the school administration and Honor Society advisors have been listening to feedback regarding many facets of Honor Society. There have been claims ranging from teacher favoritism, to teachers demanding perfect maturity. Some Honor Society students have supposedly expressed an attitude of superiority, while other have been observed living a lifestyle described as "Contrary to the standards of ACHS." In short, Honor Sociey is seeing a need for some major changes of it's basic purpose and operation.

The most vital part of Honor Society is going to be the students. The advisors are going to take a more active role in the lives of the members, with the primary objective being to show the member how to attain a closer walk with the Lord.

Please pray for the Honor Society as a organization, and for the members individually. Our desire is that every member not only to have a heart for the Lord, but to demonstrate their love for Him through "Leadership through Service."

Please direct any questions, comments, or concerns to Mr. Darrell Riggs at school.

AMERICAN CHRISTIAN HONOR SOCIETY
Potential members are nominated automatically by meeting academic requirements and demonstrating Christian leadership attributes, as verified through personal and faculty evaluations. If these standards are met, the candidate is inducted into ZCS Honor Society.

With "Leading through Serving" as our focus, ZCSHS members are involved in three areas of service - school, community, and church. A fourth aspect of "Society" is the annual outings and trips taken by the group.

For more information about the ZCS Honor Society, please contact Mr. Shaver, Mr. Riggs, or Mrs. Riggs.
